Parent/Tot Swim Lessons

Independence Recreation Commission will offer two sessions of Parent/Tot Swim lessons. It is an introductory course for children from enfant to three years old. Parents and their children will work on their introduction and familiarity with the water.  Classes will meet at the Ash Youth Center Pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays for four weeks.  Fall class will take place in October and Spring class will be held in March.

IRC Swimming Lessons

Independence Recreation Commission will offer three sessions of swimming lessons at the Riverside Beach Famil Aquatic Center during the summer. Classes will meet Monday through Friday for two weeks.  PARTICIPANTS ARE LIMITED TO ONE LEVEL PER CALENDAR YEAR unless they need to repeat a level and must be 6 years of age or older to enroll in levels 2 and up. Level 1 classes are designed for four and five year olds.

Swimming Pool Rules

No running, pushing, dunking, or horseplay

No Stunts off the poolside or slides

No spitting or smoking on pool deck

One person on the slides and diving boards at a time.

One bounce on the diving boards per dive.

Swim directly to the side after going off diving boards.

Please stay off the ropes.

Swimming apparel only.

Swimmers must demonstrate swimming ability in deep water when requested to do so.

Children over 6 are not allowed in baby pool.

Failure to obey regulations or verbal instructions will result in restriction of swimming privileges.
